ABOUT THE AREA REPRESENTATIVE JOB

AREA REPRESENTATIVES recruit prospective HOST FAMILIES, assist in the matching of the EXCHANGE STUDENT and the HOST FAMILY, conduct in-home visits and interviews, and pursue written school acceptance for the FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT.
Our REPRESENTATIVES are the first line of contact within a community for our FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS. As an area representative for student exchange, you will have regular monthly interviews, in person or by phone, with each of your EXCHANGE STUDENTS and HOST FAMILIES. You will be interacting with them as you encourage and support them. You will also be building and maintaining a good relationship with your local high schools. You would be able to plan activities for your FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS and HOST FAMILIES such as “International Pitch-in Dinners,” “Meet the Students at the Hut,” and excursions in your area with the students and families. Your opportunity to create something very special in your area is endless, but entirely up to you. Your success is up to you, your abilities, and your desire to create something very special.
AREA REPRESENTATIVES are truly “Ambassadors for America.”

WHY BE AN AREA REPRESENTATIVE
AREA REPRESENTATIVES are considered part-time, and there is no minimum number of EXCHANGE STUDENTS assigned to a representative. However your limits are set by you. It is the perfect income opportunity for people who are seeking additional income, such as those who work a full-time job but have some time on the weekends and/or evenings, stay-at-home parents, or retired people who are looking for something to keep them busy and earn extra money. Call it a passion, a hobby, community service, volunteering, new career direction, part-time job or the new car you want to buy. There are opportunities for advancement also. If you have a genuine interest in INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE and are willing to share your time with young FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENTS, then the area representative opportunity is for you.

Each year, all fees paid to you are reported to you on a 1099-Misc report. You will then be responsible for all federal or state taxes due on your income. In order to write off expenses at the end of the year, be sure to keep track of all mileage and other expenses. Save your receipts, record long distance telephone expenses that apply to your business, and keep an accurate mileage log to ensure that your tax records are in order.

Youth Exchange JOBS are Open at the SEA Alliance.
IMPORTANT: The most critical step is the matching of the host family and the foreign exchange student, interest and life style.
Therefore, SEA asks each interested family to complete a preliminary host family application, under
NO COMMITMENT, in order for the Representative to proceed with a group of students for a perspective host family to review
based on your family’s interests and lifestyle.
In this process, with the guidance of your experienced Local Representative, you will select your new son/daughter. Only then does the placement process begin.
